Fatima Palliative care is medical wing of Canossa Medical Society which is a charitable, non-profit organization catering to medical, educational and social needs of the local poor, registered under Kerala Charitable Societies Action 16.03.1985. This charitable society is at Thumba-(Trivandrum Dist of Kerala in South India)

Who can be admitted to Fatima Palliative Care Centre..?

#

Patients with life limiting illness:

■ Trauma/ Injuries
■ Cancer
■ Stroke
■ AIDS
■Any chronic ailments from which they are unlikely to recover
■ Care for the time remaining

#

Patients with progressive chronic conditions:

■ Peripheral vascular diseases
■ Low-grade malignancies
■Chronic renal or liver failure with significant functional impairment
■ Advanced heart or lung diseases
■Frailty, neuro-degenerative disorders and dementia

#

Patients with dementia

■ Age related memory loss and thus not able to perform daily routines
■ Alzheimer's disease

#

Short stay patients (10-14 days)

■ To control severe symptoms or psychosocial problems
■ To take care after an operation
■ Patient expected to die within days

Elder Care

■ Persons who are homeless, abandoned, neglected and destitute not able to care for themselves due to aging illness, or disability.

#

Respite care to offer families a break from exhausting care:

■ When a family is unable to offer intensive care for a short period of time
■ When close associate of patient is no longer capable of providing intensive care

Facilities Available

Home Care Services

Fatima Palliative care provides, physical and psychological support to patients and the relatives at home – free of cost, eg: dressing of wounds, relief of pain and other distressing symptoms, also imparts knowledge on how the care givers should take care for the patient at home etc.

Inpatient Facilities

Fatima palliative care centre with 20 bedded in-patient facility nests at a very peaceful, serene campus near to nature surroundings. Total care of the patient inclusive of medicines, food and peaceful atmosphere is given. Patients feel comfortable by the facilities provided at Fatima Palliative care.
